One way NFL fans show their love for their favorite football teams is wearing jerseys on football Sundays. You may be looking to buy more than a simple jersey that is located at a local department store. Authentic NFL jerseys can be purchased in sporting goods stores as well as online. You must be cautious when looking to buy NFL jerseys, however, as there are many sellers who try to pass off fake NFL jerseys as authentic jerseys.

Measure the chest. Measuring the chest should be done at the largest portion of your chest, where it sticks out the most from your body. Take the tape and run it around the width of your body, then write down the measurement in inches.

Measure the front of the body. Carolina Panthers.Take the measuring tape and determine the length of the front of your body by measuring from the top of your shoulders to the point on your body that you want the jersey to come to, such as your waist.

Measure the back of your body. Take the measuring tape and measure from the top of your shoulders to the point at which you want the jersey to come to on your backside. An authentic NFL jersey is slightly longer on the back than on the front.

Go to an online sizing chart for authentic NFL jerseys, such as the one on Dick’s Sporting Goods’ website, listed in the Resources section of this article. Line up your measurements with a jersey size and then go to your local retailer or order the jersey online.

Look at the NFL shield on the collar of the jersey. Stars inside of this shield should line up with one another, and the shield should not be crooked. The football inside the shield should also have stitches inside of it that reflect the look of a real football.

Pick up the NFL jersey and feel the fabric of the jersey. Authentic NFL jerseys will feel tighter and heavier in your hand. Fake jerseys feel and look more loose because they are made with a cheaper fabric. Fake NFL jerseys hang lower than authentic jerseys because they are made out of cheaper material.

View the width of both shoulders on the NFL jersey. Authentic NFL jerseys are “game day jerseys,” meaning they are what the players wear on Sundays. The shoulders on authentic NFL jerseys are a bid wider to make room for shoulder pads worn by players. Fake jerseys, however, fit just like any standard sweater, shirt or sweatshirt.
